WEEK 2: Learning Russian in 3 Months

Speaking progress after 2 weeks of Russian challenge

Dorian, Benjamin, and Aurélie have finished their second week of the 3-month challenge: Learning Russian in 3 Months. It is incredible how they have progressed after 2 weeks only. However, it is still a long way to speak conversational Russian.

Do not expect too much!

I was very surprised when I have heard that the students told me that they feel their progress has slowed down. After 2 weeks of learning Russian, they have started to worry about their progress. Can you believe that? It seemed they expected too much.

However, the next day I thought about it and it makes absolute sense. After your first lesson, you already know a few Russian phrases such as “Привет”. This means that you go from zero to something in only one lesson. This is a huge step. You will never again make such a big jump in a single lesson. Therefore, it is totally understandable to think that your progress slows down after only a few weeks of learning Russian. You will need to take a step back and remind yourself that learning a language does not happen in a few weeks but takes years. Do not judge your performance every week but every few months.
